In one of the most heartbreaking news ever, a Mom from Ghana arranged a mob to beat up her lesbian daughter.
According to reports, the mother told the mob that her daughter was a lesbian. Moreover, she exclaimed how her daughter was in fact in a relationship with another woman.
The rather shocking news is something of a rare kind, in a conservative place like Ghana. Here, citizens don’t give much heed to the term LGBTI. At the same time, the term lesbian is unheard of. Therefore, it’s a sin to commit such a crime in the open.
While the world keeps moving forward, places like Ghana don’t seem to be following trends. The country is as conservative as can be. Here, violence and other crimes occur on a daily basis. And despite authorities efforts to bring an end to it all, there seems to be little progress whatsoever.

This country in East Africa offers persecution and extreme discrimination to all those belonging to the gay status. And that’s why this case is no exception.
Meanwhile, many authorities are calling for changes in the country’s ruling system. There needs to be change and diversity. However, this news isn’t welcomed with open arms. Ghana still looks at same sex activity as a sin or a major crime.

In the country, it isn’t uncommon for men to wield machetes in order to chase diverse people out of villages. Likewise, both males and females undergo rape on a routinely basis.
The country is suffering for years and the torture keeps continuing. Whatever the case may be, you can’t complain. And even if you do, it won’t make any difference at all.
On a routinely basis, lesbian daughter and sons are called out by families. From major assaults to minor ones, the villagers have a unique take on the concept. They feel that by doing so, they can cure their sexuality.
The overall situation is so extreme that the Human Rights organization exposed the gruesome stories in an article. Comprising of 72 pages, it shows how gay people have a ‘second class citizenship.’

Another incident revolved around how a man from Nima, Accra underwent a brutal assault through the hands of a mob. After suspecting that he was gay, the villagers couldn’t keep calm. They felt the need to teach the man a lesson that wasn’t even his fault.
