New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has resigned, bringing an end to his 40-year long political career.
The shocking decision came on Tuesday where the Governor announced how he would no longer be continuing with his position in the office. However, many expected the decision to soon be on its way after a recent report by the attorney general found him guilty of sexual harassment.
Maintaining his position as innocent, the Governor boldly mentioned how he was stepping down so that the current Government would be able to focus upon the COVID situation and not worry about other less important matters.
While the decision was announced today, Cuomo mentioned how it would take effect in a span of 14 days.
Moreover, the 63-year-old high-profile figure also released a statement to his daughters, whom he referred to as jewels. “Your dad made some mistakes,” he mentioned.
Cuomo made sure he spoke his mind, adding how he was totally innocent of all the claims being slapped upon him by the New York Attorney General’s report.point 245 |

As far as Cuomo’s replacement is concerned, it will go to Kathy Hochul, who is Cuomo’s Lieutenant Governor. She will reportedly become the state’s first-ever female governor, confirmed local media outlets.
The resignation came in the form of a 20-minute long speech where Cuomo indirectly referred to himself as the victim that was at the center of a political attack by the AG of New York, Letitia James.
In the same way, he spoke about how the entire #MeToo movement had gone a tad bit too far. But what really surprised many is how he boldly mentioned that there were certain shifts in culture that he simply did not understand.
Many experts claim that if this decision was not taken sooner or later, Cuomo would definitely have been impeached with a majority of Assembly members in favor of that decision.
