Veteran actor Alec Baldwin is facing a lawsuit as he is accused of ‘playing Russian Roulette’ on the set of the western movie Rust.

Weeks after photography director Halyna Hutchins was accidentally shot dead by the 63-year-old actor who used a prop gun loaded with a live bullet while rehearsing a scene, Baldwin, armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed, and First Assistant Director David Halls have come under scrutiny.

While an investigation into the accidental shooting and the presence of live bullets on the movie set remains ongoing, all three aforementioned parties have now been sued by Mamie Mitchell, the Rust script supervisor.

In her suit, Mitchell named 22 defendants including Halls, Baldwin, Gutierrez Reed, six production companies, and Rust producers among others.

“I ran out and called 911 and said ‘Bring everybody, send everybody.’ This woman is gone at the beginning of her career. She was an extraordinary, rare, very rare woman,” Mitchell, who was present at the tragic scene at the time Hutchins was shot, said during a press conference.

“I will never forget what happened on the set of Rust that day. I relive the shooting and the sound of the explosion from the gun over and over again.

“This violent tragedy has taken away the joy in my life.”

In the suit, which alleges deliberate infliction of harm, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and assault, Mitchell insisted that Alec Baldwin intentionally fired the weapon even though he wasn’t required to do so.

“Alec Baldwin intentionally, without just cause or excuse, cocked and fired the loaded gun even though the upcoming scene to be filmed did not call for the cocking and firing of the firearm,” the script supervisor’s attorney, Gloria Allred, said.

The complaint also argued that “Mr. Baldwin cannot hide behind the Assistant Director to attempt to excuse the fact that he did not check the gun himself.”

As Allred went on to insist, Baldwin was responsible for double-checking the gun he wielded to make sure it wasn’t loaded with live bullets even if the assistant director had informed him that the gun was safe to use when he handed it to him.

The suit also takes aim at Gutierrez Reed and argues that all weapons on set should be locked away and supervised by the armorer at all times.
